Blue sunset at Bosham Hoe
Figaro & VW Beetle dip their toes!
On our search for another spectacular sunset shot with Vinnie’s Vintage Vehicles, we set off in the Beetle and Figaro to the tranquil coastal waters in West Sussex.
Chidham
We headed off to one of our favourite places where few people venture; Chidham. Why here? you might ask, why these vehicles? Well, we wanted to get some amazing photos of these two pale blue cars – original retro and original classic – to show couples how great they look together. It really is such a beautiful and romantic place.
“Amaya” is our aqua blue Nissan Figaro and “Bluebell” is our azzurro casanova blue VW Beetle. Both have paintwork which changes as the light changes. Both cars have quite unique shapes, charms, and quirks.
That was the plan anyway – get some great shots and then head back before the light went.
Our spot is the perfect location for photography. If you care to explore the tow paths and bridal paths, you’ll find that the scenery is stunning . Take this for example, up the steps to a nearby field with an awesome view of Bosham and Chichester harbour.
Zooming in you get great views across the fields and marshes of the harbour’s nature reserve. Just look at these sweet waterbirds.
We also played around a bit, having fun and getting carried away with the moment. Let’s pretend our dog did it.
Next stop, Bosham
With most of the best views and angles captured, we found ourselves chasing the declining evening light and so we quickly jumped in the cars and headed down to the harbour’s edge in Bosham right at the end of the high street. For those who know this area, it’s a risky place to be adventurous. The tranquility is misleading – many unsuspecting vehicles and walkers have been stranded by the rapidly changing tide. It’s even reputed that one of KING CANUTE’s daughters, Gunhilda, drowned here in the Mill Stream. Legend has it that the Danish king commanded the waters to go back from the shore at Bosham.
Canute’s commands were not working this evening and the tide had cut off the road down by the Anchor Bleu.
We decided to venture round to the hoe side, which you can only navigate down via a narrow track. If you use your imagination from the Chidham shots, using the Holy Trinity church spire, you can almost play ‘spot the ball’ for our location!
Time was running out but the sunset was becoming increasingly more brilliant. Knowing that THAT SHOT was more than likely just around the corner was too much of a temptation to risk missing.
And there it was, rather like the end of a rainbow – the water’s edge merging magically with the sunset…AND THE CAR’S TYRES.
Just one more snap, done! We then beat a hasty retreat in reverse gear, hoping that we weren’t trapped in by the water from the other side. Back to safety, then back off home to see how the photos would come out! Perhaps King Canute’s mysterious powers were on our side after all.
